When a baby fall from a certain height that any kind of bleeding, Injury or deformity on skull is an obvious emergency signs. Furthermore, if your baby is unconscious and he is not responding then immediately seek the medical attentions as you don’t want to waste time.
If your baby is bleeding from any side of the head then take any clean cloth and hold it there with a firm pressure to control the bleeding. Moreover it is also an emergency condition if your baby is bleeding or having some green discharge from the nose.
In other situations, If your baby fell on head but not unconscious. Baby is scared and in pain so he will be crying loud at that moment. First thing a mother should do is not to panic which is quite hard sometimes. But your baby won’t feel better seeing you crying or screaming with panic.
First , try to calm your baby and make him feel better so he’ll stop crying. Then check for any deformity in skull or bleeding that you need to worry for. Usually babies after head concussion will feel sleepy which will make them feel better. If you baby get some sleep after that try to check if he is responsive or not. If your baby is giving response then you can let him sleep again but if he is not then take him to the doctor immediately.
Sometime baby doesn’t show any response right after head concussion. But you need to notice if your baby is showing any certain type of symptoms when he wakes up. If baby has some problem that is bothering his head so you might feel change in his behaviour, sleeping pattern and he will be more irritable.
Further symptoms might include:
1-He might not eat properly like usually he eats.
2-Try to notice his gaze and body balance.
3-Check for any bulge on head.
5-excess crying or crying on particular position.
7-Sensitivity to light or noise
8-Check if his certain body part is not showing any movement.
9-Bulging or change in size of the pupils.
You should keep these symptoms in mind and consult your doctor without any hesitation. Your doctor might suggest some CT scan or X-ray to confirm any possible injury to skull or brain. It is always better to treat any problem in time otherwise delay may cause further complications.
